Thank you for visiting my site! I am currently seeking a creative position with a dynamic and innovative company. I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and present my competencies.

I believe that I am a valuable asset to add to your team because I am energetic, efficient, and dedicated. I am a creative, but I have been afforded the additional gifts of problem-solving and initiative. My ability to rise to any challenge is rooted in my commitment to constant improvement and continuous education. I value efficiency and order, in addition to my love of typography, balance, and all things visually awesome, so I am always working to bring those qualities into my work environment.

I solve problems. As a designer and marketer, I am, most often, solving communication problems. How to reach and engage an audience? Will the user experience inspire conversions or increase bounce rates? Thinking about the priorities and motives of the target audience allows me to find the communication problem. There is always a solution or compromise that forges a connection between the message and the audience.

I take pride in providing well-researched and designed solutions. For example, as the Graphic Designer at Luminex Corporation, I received a long list of “Frequently Asked Questions” (FAQ) that was intended to be a quick reference sales tool. There were over 50 questions on this 6-page, 10 pt font flyer and they did not appear to be in any particular order. So, I conveyed my doubts about the effectiveness of the layout to my superiors and the Product Manager, proposing that the questions be reordered into categories and turned into an ebook. Luminex’s ebooks were essentially PDFs with a linked table of contents at that time. This format can be useful for initial navigation, but didn’t do much to improve the user’s experience passed that first interaction. My design incorporated a home icon that would send the user back to the table of contents, as well as on-page navigation for each category. The added interactivity allowed the document to serve its intended purpose and efficiently be a quick reference tool. The FAQ ebook is an illustration of one of many times I have identified opportunities for improvement and facilitated the implementation of a more effective solution.

I am a self-starter. My ability to turn ideas into actionable plans that produce results might be my greatest quality. With adequate resources and open lines of communications, I can guide projects from brainstorm sessions to completion, both autonomously and with a team. In my two years as a Marketing Coordinator at Encotech Engineering, I was responsible for identifying leads in the form of Requests for Qualifications (RFQ) from public agencies. After identifying the opportunity, I coordinated with the executives, engineering team, and sub-consultants from other firms to compile all of the requested information and present the proposal in a branded package. I worked extensively in InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator to create and maintain brand elements, as well as produce internal and external communications. I am proud to say that the quality of Encotech’s external communications was significantly improved, in my time with the firm. We received notification that the Brazos River Authority submission received the highest score with the Authority (the previous submission did not rank at all), with similar outcomes from the City of Austin 2014 MEP Rotation List and the Texas Facilities Commission MEP Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract. Additionally, my Constant Contact Newsletter design for Encotech News won a 2014 Communication Award for Best External Newsletter from the Society for Marketing Professional Services.

My web design experience is largely through freelance opportunities. I design and implement WordPress sites. I apply my working knowledge of HTML and CSS, as well as my developing familiarity with PHP to customize WordPress Themes. I have completed a Black History Museum website, and I have a travel blog, two business/marketing sites, and a pet rescue site in my pipeline to launch in the next three months.

I am a well-rounded and disciplined asset to any team. I would love to speak with you about how my skills apply to your unique position. My portfolio is below with a contact form. I look forward to speaking with you.
